Artificial intelligence (AI) has advanced quickly in recent years and is being utilized more and more in a variety of domains, including education. ChatGPT, an advanced language model created by OpenAI, is one of the most well-known and often used AI available today.

Students are using it more and more frequently as a tool to help them finish their schoolwork. But does ChatGPT actually help pupils study, or does it impede their intellectual growth?

There are undoubtedly benefits and drawbacks to ChatGPT. Thus, ChatGPT has a number of benefits, particularly for students. One such benefit is the ability to finish assignments quickly, which helps them save time. With so much information available, ChatGPT also serves as a learning tool, helping students comprehend difficult subjects.

Additionally, by offering prompt feedback and grammar corrections, ChatGPT can aid in the development of writing abilities. It is not unexpected that a large number of students use ChatGPT given these numerous advantages.

In addition, ChatGPT assists students with their writing and communication abilities by providing comments and suggestions for growth, such as correcting grammatical errors.

ChatGPT also features a feedback tool, which allows us to communicate. This is undoubtedly quite useful; for example, as an English education student, you can practice speaking using the features offered, and you can choose from a variety of languages, including English.

However, while ChatGPT has numerous advantages, it also has many drawbacks and harmful consequences if not used properly, particularly in the academic world. However, in addition to its ability to assist ChatGPT, it also has drawbacks or negative consequences that operate as an impediment.

Students tend to have an easy going attitude or look for easy ways to complete assignments, and when critical thinking skills deteriorate, students become sluggish to think about addressing a problem or task. As a result, UNESCO has provided methods or guidelines for using artificial intelligence. To mitigate the negative impact of AI, it must be used intelligently.

In addition to the negative consequences already mentioned, relying on AI or ChatGPT reduces interaction between teachers, for example, and students, reducing the opportunity to exchange ideas and the ability to complete academic challenges that require the ability to analysis something.

As a result, it is critical for students to be active learners by not just depending on AI, but also participating in discussion groups, positive organizations, reading numerous references, and practicing problem solving on their own. On the other hand, relying solely on AI will result in passive learning.

ChatGPT does have a significant role in education, both as a tool to increase creativity, time efficiency, and in completing complex tasks. However, in addition to having a good role, if not used wisely this AI can bring negative impacts, such as decreased critical thinking skills and increased dependence on technology.

Therefore, as intellectuals, we must be able to utilize this artificial intelligence wisely in order to get the maximum benefit without hindering the development of students' analytical and critical thinking skills.
